The Da Vinci Code

Earlier I revealed to Nick the real reason I'm uncomfortable with the popularity of the Da Vinci Code. Read on.

Next week I'm going to suffer from Ian McKellan overload. "Just go away!" my Dad will shout at the screen. According to 'the News', 'Christian groups' are 'protesting' about this 'film' that is being 'released' this 'week'.

Now, it's interesting that I've heard nothing about that! Christian bookshops are sadly quicker than anyone to cash in on the latest movie blockbuster, so the Da Vinci Code is nothing new there. Still, there's not nearly as much fuss as there was over The Passion of the Christ.

Hehehe. I did find this one guy. If you want a good laugh, or a good cry you should click here, where movie guide Dr. Ted Baehr will tell you what to think.

"Young people in immature stages of development have been
perverted by seeing this movie and reading this vile book."

he says.
Apparently, those that protested against The Last Temptation of Christ were heroes, and the fact that there is little or no fuss about The Da Vinci Code is an apocalyptic warning as to how apathetic, pluralistic, and terribly tolerant we have all become.

I loved The Da Vinci Code. Everything you hear about it is true. You can't set it down due to a special glue on the cover. My discomfort began then; "I should have read this sooner." "I'm only reading it because every one else has." "I'm such a conformist." "Why is this book glued to my hand?"

When Pam asked me what I thought of it I said I liked it most of all because it reminded me of old times. I'm so darned enigmatic.

But that's the truth, and I realised it just the other day when I was chatting to Nick. The real reason I'm uncomfortable with the popularity of The Da Vinci Code is pride. I like my conspiracy theory, and although I don't pour over hack-rags like Holy Blood Holy Grail, I like to think I know my stuff. With The Da Vinci Code, suddenly everyone is talking about the Knights Templar and the Merovingian Dynasty, and that makes me a little less powerful. I had a good laugh at how petty I am.

Vile Book.

ha, i skimmed through DR Baehr's scary monster.. I mean warning of the dangers of pluralism and how we shout all go out and exercise our freedom of speech by trying to get a film banned. I found this at the bottom of his article
